According to reports, the popular instant messaging programme WhatsApp is now testing a new voice calling interface for iOS devices. The capability was initially discovered on Android in December when a small group of beta testers were given access to the latest software release.
WABetaInfo reports that the functionality is included in the version 22.5.0.70 upgrade and that it is available to select beta testers on the Apple ecosystem who have been given the revised interface. When participating in group conversations, WhatsApp divides the participants into distinct corners, which are represented by cards, and assigns real-time, colour-coded audio waveforms to each speaker.
Similarly to Discord, the indicator will now alert users when there are active speakers and will become blank when they cease chatting. Additionally, according to the source, there is a backdrop wallpaper function for audio calls, albeit it is not currently editable.
Recently, a similar interface was being tried for Android, and it displayed details such as the contact's name, profile image, and duration of the phone conversation. The UI buttons, which include the speaker, video call, mute, and terminate calls, are still located at the bottom of the screen, as they will be on the next iOS version. The update has been designated as "compatible," and it will be made available to iOS and Android users as soon as possible.
WhatsApp for iOS just added the option to halt voice message recordings, which was previously unavailable. The 'stop recording' button has been removed, and it has been replaced with dynamic pause and resume buttons as part of the upgrade. As part of the iOS 15 upgrade, the Meta-owned firm also implemented a Focus mode feature, which allows only messages and alerts from certain contacts to be received while the device is in DND (do not disturb mode).
