The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has put a stop to rumors that Umrah will be suspended due to a rise in COVID-19 rates.

According to a Ministry source who spoke to Haramain Sharifain, the Ministry has no intentions to cancel Umrah and instead encourages tourists and pilgrims to follow the safety precautions recommended by the competent authorities.

Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has re-instituted Physical and Social Distancing in the Two Holy Mosques.

According to the statement, "We urge every pilgrim and visitor to maintain physical distance and mask-wearing at all times, as this will protect your own safety as well as the safety of others." Before the afternoon prayers began, the Imam of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Yasir Al Dossary, made an announcement before the start of the services.
