Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday dismissed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as competition in the poll-bound Goa, saying it doesn't stand anywhere in the race. "I think you guys attach a lot of attention to TMC," he told the journalists in a news conference in Panaji.
"I think TMC doesn't have even a 1 percent vote share as of today. It arrived in Goa barely 3 months back, democracy doesn't function like this. You need to work hard, you need to work among people," Kejriwal also stated.
Appealing for votes, Kejriwal vowed to establish a corruption-free administration in Goa as he underlined the party's work in Delhi against the issue and its "zero-tolerance" stance against it.
"The AAP administration abolished minor corruption in Delhi," claimed Kejriwal, who also serves as the chief minister of Delhi.
The AAP leader also took a jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration led by Pramod Sawant in Goa, as he stated, his cabinet is full of "gems", adding, "so many ministers are accused of corruption."
"People of Goa had no alternative since Congress, BJP all the parties were corrupt. Now an honest party like AAP is available, give us a chance," he also added.
"We have established a revolutionary idea in Delhi like government assuring doorstep delivery of services," he underlined. The AAP leader also pledged to bring back all the businesses to Goa to enhance the economy of the Union territory.
Elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly are expected in two months. The electoral struggle has escalated in the Union territory as AAP and TMC have begun on a mission to remove the BJP.
Presently, Goa has 17 members from BJP and has the backing of legislators from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Vijay Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party (GFP), and three independents. GFP and MGP each have three MLAs. Congress, on the other side, has 15 MLAs in the house.
