The Karni Sena staged a loud protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Padmavati,' starring Deepika Padukone, in 2017.

The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has asked the Central government if the Censor Board has granted a certificate for the release of the film "Prithviraj."

On Thursday, a court order was issued in response to public interest litigation (PIL) seeking to prevent the film's release.

The matter has been scheduled for hearing in the week of February 21.

On the PIL filed by Karni Sena vice president Sangeeta Singh, a bench comprising of Justice A.R. Masoodi and Justice N.K. Jauhri issued the order.

The petition demanded that the film be banned because it depicted Prithviraj, a Hindu emperor, in a "wrong and vulgar" manner, causing wounded feelings.

According to the petitioner, the film's trailer demonstrates that it is divisive.

'Prithviraj' is a Hindi film starring Akshay Kumar. Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, well known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically praised film Pinjar, directs the film.
Prithviraj, his upcoming film, is based on the life and bravery of the daring and powerful King Prithviraj Chauhan. The famous hero who fought valiantly against the cruel invader Muhammad of Ghor is played by superstar Akshay Kumar.

Manushi Chillar, the former Miss World, plays King Prithviraj's loving Sanyogita, and her debut is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated debuts of 2022. Yash Raj Films is the producer of the film.

The Karni Sena is resisting the distribution of a film for the second time.
