Since the implementation of Covid-19 limits on December 28, a significant proportion of Delhi's population has been in violation of the regulations. Because the number of Covid instances is increasing, the authorities are detaining and fining individuals for their indifference.

On January 2, the Delhi government said that it had collected a total of Rs. 1.15 crore in penalties for breaches of Covid-19 regulations. It further said that the police had filed 45 formal complaints against members of the public who had violated safety regulations.

The number of breaches on the first day of the new year (January 1) was 66, and the total amount of penalties collected was Rs. 99 lakh.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded 3,194 positive Covid cases and one fatality, representing a 17 percent increase over the previous day. The rate of optimism is increasing, and it is now sitting at 4.59 percent.

The increase in infections is being fueled by a virulent version of the Sars-CoV-2 virus known as Omicron. As a result of its extensive mutation, scientists think it is more resistant to current vaccinations.

The Delhi administration, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has enacted limits under the "Level 1" of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in order to prevent the spread of the Omicron strain. A 'yellow alert' has been issued for Delhi, and all social events have been barred from taking place. It has been decided that cinemas will only be open on odd-even days, and a night curfew will be in effect from 10pm to 5am on certain days.
