According to the India Meteorological Department, two western disturbances are expected to bring rain to parts of northwest India and the western Himalayan region for a few days beginning on January 16.
In addition, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that a rainy spell has begun throughout central and eastern India and would remain until at least Friday.
Rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura is expected to range from scattered to quite widespread through Friday afternoon.
Cyclonic circulation in the southwest Bay of Bengal and another in southern Tamil Nadu are expected to bring rain or thundershowers to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala during the next 4-5 days. Rainfall or thundershowers are also expected in Kerala.
Meanwhile, the western disturbance that brought extensive rains to northwest India last week is now forming a cyclonic circulation in northwest Uttar Pradesh, according to the latest forecast.
