The Karnataka government extended Section 144 and other restrictions on Mangaluru for two more days on Sunday.
"Section 144 has already been extended till August 6 in Dakshina Kannada police jurisdiction. Additional restrictions i.e. early closure of shops at 6 pm is also imposed in the entire district for the next two days," said Dr Rajendra KV, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada.
He also stated that the liquor ban will remain in effect throughout the district for the next two days.
Previously, the restrictions were to remain in force till August 1.
The order came amid the district's ongoing tensions, which erupted following three brutal murders in the last 10 days.
The police said on Thursday that Fazil, 23, was hacked to death on the outskirts of Mangaluru by an unidentified group.
Section 144 was imposed in Surathkal, Mulki, Bajpe, and Panambur as an outcome of the incident.
"Around 8 p.m. (on July 28), a 23-year-old boy was brutally attacked by 4-5 people near Krishnapura Katipalla road in Surathkal. The boy was immediately taken to the hospital and declared dead "N Shashi Kumar, Mangaluru Police Commissioner, said
The officials had also ordered that all wine shops within the commissioner's jurisdiction close on July 29.
On the night of July 26, Praveen Nettaru, a young BJP worker, was attacked with lethal weapons by unidentified people on a bike in Bellare, Dakshina Kannada.
Following the murder, the Karnataka Police said on Thursday that they had arrested two people who will be brought to court.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dakhshina Kannada, 15 people have been questioned so far, with two being arrested.
Earlier on July 21, a 19-year-old youth, Mohammad Masood, died in a hospital after he was assaulted by eight men in Sullia of Dakshina Kannada.
