The Srirangapatna Police detained a seer from the Kali Mutt in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday after he reportedly issued a controversial statement demanding the demolition of a mosque and the construction of a Hanuman temple in its place.

According to the police, Rishi Kumar, the head of the Kali Mutt in Chikkamagaluru, was arrested and sent to Srirangapatna for questioning.

According to police, while standing in front of the mosque, which is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), he said that this construction, like the Babri mosque in Ayodhya, should be demolished as a matter of urgency.

In a video that went popular on social media, he stated that the pillars, walls, and water tanks on the grounds of the mosque represented Hindu architecture and that the mosque should be demolished as a result of this symbolization.
