In India and other countries, Meta-owned Instagram unveiled a new feature named "Take a Break" on Friday.
Instagram, which is owned by Meta, unveiled a new tool called "Take a Break" in India and other countries on Friday in an effort to assist users to make informed decisions about how much time they spend on the network. Take a Break is a feature that will appear for Instagram users after they have been browsing for a specific period of time, prompting them to take a break from the site and advising them to create reminders for future breaks.
In a bid to help its users make informed decisions about spending time on the platform, Meta-owned Instagram on Friday launched a new feature called "Take a Break" in India and other countries. Take a Break is essentially a feature that will show up for Instagram users, as they have been scrolling for a certain amount of time and they will be asked to take a break from the platform and suggest that they set reminders to take more breaks in the future.
"We care about the well-being of young people, therefore we're working hard to make sure that time spent on Instagram is purposeful and that people are happy with it." With this in mind, we've introduced 'Take a Break' to help young people, parents, and guardians have a better Instagram experience. In a statement, Natasha Jog, Public Policy Manager, Instagram, Facebook India, said, "We hope to continue our work to build a safe and supportive environment on Instagram so young people can use it to explore their interests and find community."
Instagram's new Take a Break reminder builds on the company's previous time management tools, such as Daily Limit, which notifies users when they've spent the maximum amount of time they wish to spend on Instagram each day and allows users to silence Instagram notifications. Take a Break will also be promoted through a campaign named "Break Zaroori Hai," which will be run in collaboration with "We The Young." The month-long campaign will illustrate scenarios in which young people could benefit from this functionality.
"We The Young" is a community that will collaborate with creators, mental health experts, and other stakeholders to create multilingual content that emphasizes the importance of making informed decisions about how much time is spent on the platform and educates users on how to use the Take A Break feature.
