It has been reported that the Omicron type of coronavirus has been found in 213 instances in the nation so far, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. On Tuesday, the state of Maharashtra reported 11 additional cases of the Omicron strain, bringing the total number of such illnesses in the state to 54. The number of Omicron cases in the capital has risen to 57. According to the latest data, Delhi and Maharashtra continue to account for the greatest proportion of new Omicron cases in the country's total caseload.

Meanwhile, in the previous 24 hours, India has reported 6,317 new cases of Covid-19, with 318 fatalities reported. The active caseload in the country is currently at 78,190, which is the lowest level in 575 days.

On Tuesday, the Centre issued a warning that the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is "at least three times more transmissible" than the Delta variant and directed states to impose strict restrictions in districts with high positivity rates, including the imposition of night curfews, the regulation of large gatherings, and containment measures.
