After two tourist buses collided in Himachal's Bilaspur district, a Mumbai resident was murdered and 14 others were hurt, while three people were injured in another accident in Mandi's Sundernagar.
On the Chandigarh-Manali national route, the accident occurred in Garha Morha. The tourist bus with the number (PB 01 A 9912) was travelling from Manali to Chandigarh. There were 45 people on board. According to early findings, the bus driver was unable to navigate a bend owing to excessive speeding.
Soon after the accident, a lady passenger on the bus was crushed to death by another bus while assisting wounded students in carrying their belongings to the roadside from the vehicle that had turned turtle. After striking the parapet, the bus lost control and drifted off the road, hanging from the side of the road. The bus had 42 people on board. The second bus was signalled to stop by police, but the driver was unable to apply brakes in time, according to Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Saju Ram Rana.
The deceased was a Mumbai resident. The wounded were sent to the hospital in Nalagarh.
"One of the passengers, Ruksin Madon (23), a Mumbai resident, was aiding the wounded people when she was crushed to death by the second bus." Three buses plied the route, one after the other. According to him, all three buses belonged to the same tour and travel firm, and the passengers were returning to Chandigarh after celebrating the New Year. Students made up the majority of the passengers.
Three people were injured in another accident, including the bus driver. On the Manali – Chandigarh route, the accident happened near Sundernagar. The bus was travelling between Manali and Chandigarh. The bus driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the main gate of the Dehar power plant in Salaparh. The bus driver's condition is described as critical. He was brought to Ner Chowk's Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College.
