A new promo of Telugu actor Allu Arjun shows him showcasing his acting talents and spoofing South cinema while channelling the character of Pushpa from his most recent film Pushpa: The Rise (Pushpa).

During the advertisement, which was shared on Twitter by meal delivery company Zomato, Allu Arjun can be seen confronting a group of goons at a shopping centre. As he hits one of the bad guys, he starts to slide backwards in slow motion. While falling, the goon calls Allu Arjun Bunny and requests that he drop him as quickly as possible in Telugu. With a jab at the high-octane action sequences that are typically featured in south Indian films, Allu Arjun responds with, "It's south cinema. This is how we do it."

The goon responds by saying that he has a craving for Gongura Mutton and that the restaurants will be closed by the time he falls to the ground in slow motion, which is true. When Allu Arjun is finished, he flashes his phone and says in Telugu, "Gongura Mutton or anything you want, Zomato is available for you."

At the conclusion, he paraphrases a well-known passage from Pushpa and says, "Manasu korithe, thaggedele (when your heart desires, don't just settle)," while making the signature Pushpa hand gesture.

However, although many fans praised the advertisement, others were offended by the fact that the Telugu actor appeared to be making fun of the slow-motion aspect that is common in action sequences in south Indian movies. The video prompted a backlash from fans on Twitter, with one saying, "Don't forget your roots, Mr Allu Arjun," and another saying, "It's insulting the south cinema." Some expressed their dissatisfaction with Zomato, with one netizen declaring: "I am removing the app off my phone immediately." In your most recent advertisement, you are degrading south cinema."
