Whether it's called Pongal, Sankranti, or Lohri, the essence of the holiday stays the same. The celebration is about spending time with family, connecting over food and fun, in addition to customs. Hema Malini, Bollywood's Dream Girl, is also celebrating the event in this manner. The actress added that she is spending the day with her loved ones at home and that she is even treating them to bowls of Pongal made by her. "Celebrated Pongal with the family today," Hema Malini said besides a photo of herself stirring a huge vessel in the kitchen. "Right now, I'm making Pongal at home." The veteran actress looked stunning in a pink saree, as she often does.
"As the country celebrates Sakranti, Pongal, Bihu, and Uttarayan, the harvest festivals of Sakranti, Pongal, Bihu, and Uttarayan. Sweet Pongal is a favorite with my kids, and we all adore screaming together "Polgalo Pongal" as it cooks (a ritual I learned from my grandma). Warm greetings to you and your loved ones. "May you be blessed."
The photos appear to be from a birthday celebration for the actress' mother. "Amma was the pivot of the family and she governed like a true matriarch," Hema Malini said in the description. She adored all of her grandchildren and delighted in being surrounded by them. Her birthday celebrations were a lot of fun, with 'Amba,' as the youngsters called her, having the entire family around her. "Photos from her wedding day."
