'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' Alia Bhatt's biggest film date, appears to be a promising excursion. The planned period film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is based on one of the chapters of acclaimed author Hussain Zaidi's book "Mafia Queens of Mumbai." It stars Alia Bhatt as Gangubai, one of Mumbai's most powerful, loved, and revered madams during the 1960s red-light district Kamathipura. Bhansali and Dr. Jayantilal Gada produced the film, which also stars Ajay Devgn (Pen Studios).
The result is a magnificent sight as Bollywood's powerhouses Alia Bhatt, SLB, and Ajay Devgn team together to display the figure on the big screen. Alia is fantastic as the ruthless Kothewali madam. She is both impressive and self-assured. According to the official film description, "A tale of bravery, inspiration, and perseverance. This year, we honor a woman who not only climbed to power but also reigned supreme."
Due to the coronavirus pandemic that ravaged India in March 2020, the film has been postponed several times. The film was originally slated to hit theatres on September 11, 2020. The makers announced that the film would be released somewhere in 2021 in January 2021, but the release was again postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. On February 25, it will be released in theatres. The film will be screened at the famous 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, where it will get its much-anticipated international premiere.
