The Karnataka hijab dispute arose again on Saturday, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the matter. Rahul Gandhi stated on Saturday that by allowing the hijab to get in the way of kids' education, the future of the daughters of India is being jeopardized. The BJP, using its official Twitter handle, attacked Rahul Gandhi for "communalizing" education and asked why Rahul Gandhi does not make hijab mandatory in states run by Congress if it is "so much vital" to acquire an education.

By communalising education, CONgress co-owner @RahulGandhi has once again proved that he is dangerous to the future of India.

If Hijab is very much essential to get educated, why doesn't Rahul Gandhi make it mandatory in States ruled by CONgress?#CommunalCONgress https://t.co/MnVoVSJKEm

Amid the ongoing controversy over colleges refusing to allow hijab-clad students on their campuses, Karnataka BJP state chairman Nalin Kumar Kateel stated that the government will not allow "Talibanization" of the state's universities. "In the schools, there is no place for the hijab or anything of the like. Schools serve as temples for the goddess 'Sarasvati' (Goddess of knowledge). It is the pupils' responsibility to learn about and stick to the laws and regulations of the school "he said.

Following the fulfillment of this demand, BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal stated, "We will seek permission to wear Burqas and then to construct a mosque within the school."

On Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai convened a meeting to discuss the dispute and instructed educational institutions to conform to current uniform-related regulations.

Saturday saw the continuation of protests, with students in hijab holding demonstrations to demand the right to wear the hijab in class. Using slogans such as "We demand justice" and "Gundagardi Nahi Chalegi" (Hooliganism will not be permitted), Muslim students conducted rallies in Kalaburagi, the district's administrative center.

A similar rally took place in Udupi when students dressed in burqas and seeking permission to wear hijab marched onto the university to demand it. Hindu boys and girls began showing up at several schools and institutions wearing saffron scarves to demonstrate their opposition to the wearing of hijabs in the classroom as a form of protest.
