Karnataka's Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh spoke on Wednesday about a video that has gone viral showing a burka-clad girl shouting "Allahu Akbar" as a crowd chanted "Jai Sri Ram." The video has gone viral because the girl was responding to a group of people chanting "Jai Sri Ram." The BJP lawmaker had previously claimed that the CFI (Campus Front of India), which is backed by the SDPI, was behind the hijab conflict.

"Students didn't want to gherao the girl who was outside the college. No student was around her when she shouted "Allah hu Akbar". Was she provoked? Can't encourage 'Allah hu Akbar' or 'Jai Shri Ram' on campus," the state minister said.

Afterwards, the girl, named Muskaan Khan, a student at the PES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce in Mandya district, informed reporters that she had been stopped at the college gate by a group of students and told she could not enter because she was wearing a burka. "The same thing was happening to my other friends as well.  I questioned them as to why they urged me to return to my home rather than enter the college grounds. 'Jai Sriram' was screamed by a few of them as they got near to my ears. They came after me and yelled at me that I needed to remove my burka, but I refused to comply "According to the Indian news agency IANS, she stated.

Nagesh's remarks have since invited criticism from Opposition leaders. "This moron could hear only 'Allah Hu Akbar'. He didn't hear 'Jai Sri Ram' being used as a war cry by a huge crowd of lumpen elements and intimidation and near assault on Muskan by them just because she chose to wear a burqa. Shame on this Minister" tweeted National Conference leader Shafqat Watali.

Because of the increasing violence in the protests this week, which included cases of stone-pelting and police officers resorting to baton charges and the deployment of tear gas, the state of Karnataka ordered the closure of all high schools and institutions in the state for three days. "No one has the authority to grab the reins of law and order. Those who break the law will not be spared by the authorities "Today, BC Nagesh gave his word of assurances.
The Karnataka Minister had stated a day earlier that an inquiry was underway and that a report will be released shortly after that. "I've already had a conversation with the Home Secretary about this. We looked into the issue and found a solution. The perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted if found. Not an order, but an inquiry is ongoing. When they are spreading over the state, some individuals believe they should be probed. Everything will become evident once the situation has been thoroughly investigated. This event will be thoroughly examined to find out who was responsible for it. That is something we shall address "Nagesh had expressed himself in this manner.
