According to Drik Panchang, it occurs on Chaturdashi Tithi during Krishna Paksha in the month of Magha. Shivratri is a Hindu holiday celebrated every month on the lunisolar Hindu calendar. Maha Shivratri, on the other hand, occurs only once a year, in February or March, at the end of winter, and the start of spring and summer. It is considered auspicious because it is said to be the night when Shiva and Shakti, the embodiments of love, power, and oneness, come together.

The Importance And History Of Maha Shivratri 2022:

Maha Shivratri is a major event that celebrates the union of Shiva and Shakti. Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati are said to have been wedded to the Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri, according to Hindu mythology. While Lord Shiva represents Purusha or consciousness, Maa Parvati represents Prakriti or nature. Creation is aided by the confluence of consciousness and energy. This celebration also serves as a reminder of how to triumph over adversity and ignorance in life.

Many traditions surround this fortunate day, one of which claims that Lord Shiva performs his cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and destruction on this night. Among his admirers, this beautiful dance is known as tandav. According to another tale, prayer to Lord Shiva on this night will help one conquer and let go of their misdeeds, allowing them to begin on the path of righteousness. Fasting on this day is also thought to bring good luck.
