Araga Jnanendra, the state's home minister, said on Wednesday that some people have been arrested and that whether they are outsiders or not will be determined through an investigation. The arrests come a day after clashes were reported from several districts in Karnataka as the row over students wearing hijab to high schools intensified.

"Wherever unpleasant things have occurred, immediate action will be done. Cases have been reported to the police. According to the news outlet ANI, "We have detained a few people, who are not students, and we will inform you after the investigation is thorough."
