The authorities of Ashtavinayak Ganpati have put forward a proposal for darshan via helicopter, which they hope will be implemented soon. The service will assist devotees in completing the yatra, which includes visits to eight shrines, in five hours rather than the usual 24 hours.
Ashtavinayak Ganapati President Ganesh Kawade stated, "After talking with the authorities of all eight villages, we have decided to begin helicopter service, and we have submitted a request to the higher authorities for consideration.
As soon as the helicopter service is available, devotees will begin their journey to the Ashtavinayak temple from Ozar, Vighnahar Ganpati, followed by Ranjangaon, Mahaganpati; then on to Siddhatek (Siddhivinayak Ganpati), Theur Chintamani Ganpati, Morgaon, Mayureshwar Ganpati, Mahad, Vardvinayak temple, Pali, Balleshwar temple, Devotees will then travel by bus back to Ozar from where they started.
Among those who have expressed concern are Sagar Asthekar, a devotee from Sadashiv Peth: "Even though the authorities are planning helicopter service, the major source of concern is that the sequence of visiting Ashtavinayak does not match the traditional route, which would be opposed by many devotees."
